Development Pathways
After becoming a qualified Lifeguard or Patrol Support, there are many courses and development opportunities available. All courses are funded by the club.
First Aid
Surf Life Saving New Zealand has developed a specialized curriculum for first aid training to ensure that surf lifeguards are equipped to handle potentially life-threatening situations while on patrol.
Lifeguards and Patrol Support members can participate in the following courses:

Pain Relief Module
Powercraft Training
Powercraft such as IRBs (Inflatable Rescue Boats) and RWCs (Rescue Water Craft – Jet Skis) are essential for keeping people safe on the water. Before using this equipment, lifeguards must complete training to ensure safe and effective operation.
Available courses include:
IRB Crewperson Module (14+ years)
IRB Driver Course – requires Senior Lifeguard Award (16+ years)
RWC Driver Course (20+ years)
